Monu Gentle Cleanser: Review

I have been using the Monu Gentle Cleanser for a few weeks. I purchased it shortly after receving the January 2013 Glossybox as there was a different Monu product inside which i loved. After trying the sample of the Monu Micro-exfoliant, I had a look on their website at what other products they have on offer. At the time, I was on the look out for a new cleanser or moisturiser which doesn't irritate my skin (because my skin breaks out so easily) and I spotted the Gentle Cleanser.

Monu had a variety of cleansers on their website but I went for the 'gentle' one because it said that it was suitable for sensitive skin. Monu use only natural products, which assured me that my skin would improve and not get worse through use. It is reasonably pricey: £17.50 a bottle, but I wasn't bothered as long as it worked.

I applied the cleanser by putting a small amount on my finger tip and gently massaging it into my face. I took it off with a muslin cloth; on the bottle, it recommends that you take it off with a tissue or cotton pad but I preferred to do it this way so you don't get unwanted bits on your face. I didn't 'dry' it as much, just kind of dabbed and rubbed slightly. Afterwards, my skin felt so soft that I didn't even feel the need to moisturise. My face looked noticeably brighter and my complexion has improved in general. I now use it on a daily basis, usually just after I've had a shower as the steam helps it to seep in more.

On the back of the bottle, it always gives a tip on how to have a mini-facial with the product, which I now follow once a week. It states that you should take a little longer massaging gently into the skin, keep on the face for a couple of minute longer before using a hot, damp muslin/facial cloth to take it off. I like to just place the hot, damp muslin/facial cloth on my face and hold it there for a little while before just 'dabbing' it off.

Almost a 2-in-1 product; I will definitely be repurchasing. Also, Monu send a mini brochure of their products when you order online.

Glossybox UK February 2013: Products Review

I loved the design of the box. I was squeeling so loud when I first saw it! Glossybox always use the same baby pink box with the black logo in the centre, so it was a refreshing change. I couldn't just shove the empty box in a draw afterwards because it's too pretty so instead I've put it on my desk and am using it as a stylish make-up box - what a great way to recycle.

I am so happy with this months Glossybox. I was very disappointed last month so I decided that the February box was make or break. Thankfully, this months box is probably my favourite... ever! I've been let down recently with tiny sample sizes of things I wouldn't even use. Receiving 3 body lotions in one box was getting beyond the joke but this month, there has been plenty of variation including two full-sized products and the other products being a decent size anyway. And of course, a sixth item was a nice touch. It's like Christmas in February, it really is.

This is the box as I received it. Again, I loved the packaging on the inside just as much as the outside. It sticks to the Valentines Day theme really well. Everything is pink!

TIP: I always save the tissue paper and ribbon to use on birthdays and Christmas. It's useful to cover up what's inside gift bags or even to wrap presents.

The first product I couldn't help but notice was the Anatomicals 'you need a blooming shower! your nose smells rose body cleanser.' I've used Anatomicals before; it's totally my thing because I love fresh and fruity smelling things as opposed to overpowering perfume scents. The packaging of all Anatomicals products are bright, quirky and so unique (I dare you to find similar packaging on another product!) I've used this a few times in the shower now. I love how even the products are sticking with the Valentines Day theme as this has a gorgeous rose scent. This body cleanser is an absolute bargain too - £5 for 300ml!

The sample of MicaBella Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow is an absolutely tiny 1g. However, I'm sure that I will get plenty of usage out of this size as you really don't have to use that much. I've tried it once so far and I did really like it. It's a shimmery brown shade and I love it because you could wear it subtly during the day as a natural colour in the outer corners of your eyes and along the crease or you could go wild at night and spread it all over your eye lid with some liquid eyeliner. So many possibilities! This product retails at £14.95 for 2.5g.

TIP: It can get quite messy because it's powdery so I tipped a little bit into the lid and used that.

I had never heard of the Mememe brand in my life but I'm always up for trying new things, especially when it comes to make-up. The FatCat mascara was a bit of a let down to be honest. Everyime I receive a Glossybox, I like to visit their Facebook page and have a look at what other people received and also, what they thought of their products. I saw quite a few comments saying that the FatCat mascara was dry and didn't last very long - and I can't help but agree. This mascara doesn't come close to the mascara I use every day. I had to apply a larger amount than usual yet still saw less of a result. It was so dry and I felt like nothing was really coming off the wand. Considerimg the FatCat mascara retails at £7.99 for 8ml, that's a lot of  money for something that doesn't really work.

The only product I received which wasn't for the face was the Sassoon spray shine, which is a spray for the hair to make it shine. Sadly, I've got naturally oily hair (which I hate) so if I used this, it probably would've looked greasy as opposed to soft and glossy. I'm sure I'll try it one day haha!

I was excited when I first saw the Miners lip colour. I don't often wear lipsticks but the shade of this product is so natural and shiny that I thought it would be rude not to give it a go. It's a shimmery, light pink colour which leaves the lips feeling soft and looks lovely. Again, it's pink sticking with the Valentines Day theme and seeing as today is Valentines Day, I am going to wear it. It's not one of those light lip colours which looks ridiculous and ghost-like; the shimmer and shine will suit all skin tones and hair colours. I was amazed by how cheap this product retails at; £3.99 - what a bargain!

The heart lollipop was a lovely sixth item this month. It tasted great haha. It's always a nice gesture to receive an extra gift; in fact, this is the third month in a row that we have received a sixth item. Thank you Glossybox! :)
